As one of Our Recommendations and Recommended Recordings, we recommend Live At The Avant Garde, by Magic Sam, released on Delmark Records.

Delmark Records released three albums by Magic Sam in 1967 and 1968: West Side Soul, Black Magic and Live At The Avant Garde. We recommend all three as being among the best Chicago blues albums of the 1960’s.

Live At The Avant Garde was recorded at the Avant Garde night club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 22 June 1968. The sound is good, audience noise is minimal and the performance is excellent.
