Roosevelt Sykes (1906-1983) was one of the leading blues piano players from the 1930’s until the 1950’s, when his career faded in the face of the new electric Chicago blues. His professional name was “The Honeydripper.” He was born in Elmar, Arkansas and grew up near Helena, Arkansas. He was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1999.
